Tupelo Honey

You can take all the tea in China
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail right around all the seven oceans
Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can’t stop us on the road to freedom
You can’t keep us ’cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor bent on chivalry
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
Just like honey, baby, from the bee

You can’t stop us on the road to freedom
You can’t stop us ’cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor intent on chivalry
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
Just like honey, baby, from the bee

You know she’s alright, oh she’s alright with me
You know, you know, you know she’s alright, she alright with me
You know, you know, you know you know
You know she’s alright, alright with me
She’s alright, she’s alright
She’s alright with me
She’s alright
She’s alright with me
She’s alright
She’s alright with me

She’s al, she’s alright, she’s alright
She’s alright with me
She’s alright, she’s alright, she’s alright, she’s alright

You can take all the tea in China
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail it right around all these seven oceans
Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea
Because, she’s as sweet as Tupelo honey, yes she is
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
Just like honey, baby, from the bee

She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
She’s an angel of the first degree
She’s as sweet as Tupelo honey
Just like the honey, from the bee
She’s alright, she’s alright with me
She’s my baby, you know she’s alright
She’s my baby, she’s my baby, she’s alright
She’s my baby

Tupelo Honey – Van Morrison

What future holds in store for me
With blue eyes I long to see
Shall it be a thought of the sea
Or will it bring peril to me

A sense of freedom calls out
And still I’m filled with doubt
Will I surmount it all
Or will I tumble and fall

Will the knight in me prevail
Or will the pheasant I am fail
Give up I shall not
Such battles I have fought

It’s alright for my eyes can see
The passion inside of me
My vision of freedom remains
Strengthened by the pains

As sweet as Tupelo Honey
My days will be sunny
Brought forth by my will
My vision remains still

I shall control my fate
No longer am I late
I behold a future for me
Awash upon the sea

  1. So this is a wonderful poem you multi-talented wordsmith! But I have something to say … you will not fail. Hear me. You. Will. Not. Fail. Think of The Runaway Bride – keep you eyes on mine and just walk forwards … that will get you to your finish line. I have special powers, I know this. Of course in the movie, Richard Gère has an epic fail but I don’t know the meaning of the word so all shall be well 😉
